About Foote Family Lawyers

Sue Foote, Principal Lawyer - Foote Family Lawyers

Admission & Membership

Sue Foote was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia in July 2014, and is a proud member of the Law Society of NSW.

Family Law Expertise

With a strong background in family law, Sue is dedicated to supporting clients through some of life’s most difficult moments. She brings compassion, clarity, and determination to every matter, helping people feel guided and reassured along the way.

Her practice spans the full breadth of family law, including parenting and custody arrangements, property settlements, child and spousal maintenance, adult child maintenance, and divorce. Sue is particularly skilled at helping clients reach practical resolutions through solicitor-to-solicitor negotiations and Family Dispute Resolution conferences.

Approach & Representation

Sue also has extensive experience representing clients in alternative dispute resolution forums—such as mediations and conciliation conferences—as well as in Court proceedings, including Interim and Final Hearings in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.

Known for her empathetic yet pragmatic approach, Sue tailors her strategy to each client’s unique circumstances. Whether pursuing a negotiated settlement or advocating firmly in court, she ensures her clients feel supported and confident. Her calm, grounded manner is especially valued during emotionally charged situations.

Professional Background

Before becoming a solicitor, Sue spent nearly 13 years working behind the scenes in the legal profession as a temporary Clerk of Chambers and as a research assistant to barristers across Sydney. These experiences gave her a deep understanding of the profession and helped her build strong, lasting relationships within the legal community.

Beyond the Law

Outside of her practice, Sue is a proud mother of three adult children. She loves spending time outdoors—whether bushwalking, camping, or riding her motorbike—and enjoys the vibrancy of local live music.

Sue is also an active member of her community. She belongs to the Local Business Networking Group - Hornsby and Upper North Shore chapter, previously served as secretary of the Princess Charlotte Alopecia Foundation, and continues to contribute to local volunteer initiatives.
